ROCK SPRINGS AT FORT WORTH BOTANIC GARDEN

+ Landscape Architecture

This oldest section of the renowned Fort Worth Botanic Garden was beginning to show its age with crumbling infrastructure and severe overgrowth. GSBS Architects was landscape architect tasked with restoring the park to its former glory and health. Many of the original stone paths were saved and repaired and strategic additions increase accessibility and connectivity—all while maintaining the park’s original 1930's character. While the native springs for which the park is named no longer flow naturally, a recirculating system keeps the streams, ponds, and weirs healthy and flowing. The restored habitat along Rock Springs is home to many kinds of animals, insects, fish, birds and native Texas plant species.
