SHOKO SMITH

Experiential designer

Born and raised in Tokyo, Shoko came to the United States to attend college in Missouri. It was there she discovered graphic design, allowing her to combine her technology aptitude with her love of art. She also discovered another love there and married a professional commercial photographer.

Shoko’s BFA in Commercial Arts led her to initially use her talent in advertising and design agencies before joining GSBS Architects. Here her focus is on placemaking. Creating a sense of place that represents the client and their brand through Experiential Graphic Design (EGD.)

Tokyo is quite different from Utah, but Shoko enjoys all the space she can spread out here. Her family can often be found riding their bikes (50+ miles or 2000+ feet of climbing preferred) and generally enjoying the natural beauty in Utah.
