Tom Owens Park
GSBS Architects collaborated with the Farmington community and Farmington City Staff to develop a master plan for Tom Owens Park, harmonizing heritage preservation with contemporary functionality. The design preserves historic structures and introduces new amenities, including a heritage plaza, farmers market, tree orchard, events plaza, stage, trail access, and botanical gardens. The plan prioritizes ecological restoration through the daylighting of Rudd Creek and Farmington Creek and creates a sustainable framework that enhances the park’s cultural and environmental legacy.
GSBS created Farmington StoryCorps for this project, a platform designed to capture and preserve the stories connected to the property’s history, as told by those who lived or interacted with it. To bring these narratives to life, a recording studio was set up during public outreach events, offering visitors a space to share memories that resurfaced as they revisited the site.
