Sandy City General plan Update
With vibrant neighborhoods, an exciting mix of sports and entertainment options, and a thriving downtown at The Cairns, Sandy is a model of livability and opportunity. GSBS Consulting partnered with Sandy City to create Sandy’s Pace of Progress 2050, the city’s first comprehensive General Plan update since 1979, establishing a clear vision for the future. This collaborative effort engaged thousands of residents, business leaders, and officials, ensuring the plan reflects the city’s values and aspirations.
The General Plan is a moderate growth strategy that identifies opportunities for new housing, targeted economic growth, and enhanced community amenities while preserving Sandy’s unique character. GSBS Consulting developed innovative tools to support the plan, including Utah’s first-ever dashboards tied to the Future Land Use Map. These dashboards go beyond traditional metrics like density to emphasize community character elements that make Sandy such a desirable place to live. The plan also includes five Station Area Plans, six Neighborhood Activity Center Plans, and a Moderate Income Housing Plan, all built on extensive community input and confirmed through independent, statistically valid surveys. Together, these efforts ensure Sandy’s future growth is thoughtfully managed, balancing vibrant neighborhoods, diverse housing, convenient amenities, and high-quality recreation and open spaces.
