South Salt Lake General Plan Update

The goal of the General Plan Update for the City of South Salt Lake was to identify a community vision consistent with resident needs and future opportunity, one of those being the desire to identify neighborhoods within the city. This process focused on creating a thorough and inclusive engagement campaign that would capture the voices of underrepresented communities in South Salt Lake. The engagement process included custom materials in multiple languages, a custom interactive website, and several in-person community gatherings. As part of the planning process, South Salt Lake residents and the Steering Committee identified the boundaries and names for each of the neighborhoods in the City. This was an important step in understanding the vision and goals for each of the unique areas in the community. The distinct neighborhood vision and goals come together to create a vision of the future for South Salt Lake that is greater than the sum of its parts. The work completed by the planning team earned a 2022 Merit Award from the American Planning Association, Utah Chapter.
