NATALIE BRUCE

LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT
RLA, CLARB, ASLA

Formerly a certified Cash Manager at a mutual fund company, Natalie knew it was time for a change after her 10-key calculator blew up one day. Lured to Australia by the possibility of obtaining her own pet kangaroo, she began studying landscape architecture in Sydney. Sadly, the waiting list for kangaroos was extremely long, so she returned to the U.S. and resumed her studies at the University of Texas at Arlington. Three short years later, she earned her Master of Landscape Architecture degree.

When not at work, Natalie enjoys (non-contact) mixed martial arts training, and chaperoning her son’s marching band shows, as well as weekly visits to the local library. She also plans on renewing her love for quad skating after the purchase of some extremely “rad” skates. She is also exploring a new interest in astronomy and starting to plan for being an empty nester.

Natalie completed her landscape architect licensing requirements in October 2014 but has been sharing her expertise with GSBS since 2013. She has a keen interest in creating balanced interactions between people and the natural environment, especially designing restorative or educational spaces. Creating spaces that add value to the natural system as well as people’s experiences in them is the reason she pursued landscape architecture as a career. Her attention to detail and interest in human behavior provide a solid basis for successful projects.
